**About Peabody Research Institute:**

Our mission at PRI is
to conduct research aimed at improving the effectiveness of programs for
children, youth, and families. Using field research, program evaluation, and
research synthesis (meta-analysis), our faculty and staff help determine which
programs are actually making a difference in the lives of the people they
serve. PRI research addresses many aspects of child and family programs, such
as their implementation, costs, dissemination, and social or political
support. But the main focus for all of our work is the effects of programs on

**About the Work Unit:**

The
Peabody Research Institute at Vanderbilt University is looking for versatile
individuals experienced with young children and classrooms with specific
knowledge of mathematical development in children and the activities that
facilitate growth in mathematics. The person in this position will work
on an externally funded educational research project at the Peabody Research
Institute (PRI) focused on early mathematics development and assume major
responsibility for the project functions related to data collection,
management, and analysis. Time will be spent on the DREME Network project,
Making More of Math, joining a highly experienced group of researchers engaged
in locally and nationally important research.


**About the Role:**



+ Administer assessments to young children

+ Conduct systematic classroomobservations reliably

+ Work collaboratively withteachers to explore different mathematical practices

+ Prepare charts and graphs forpresentations or publications

+ Enter data into computerdatabases

+ Clean and error-check datafiles

+ Manipulate databases andspreadsheets

+ Draft portions of researchreports, and the like

+ Attend and assist withtrainings and meetings





**Qualifications:**



+ Bachelor's degreeand 4 years of experience or Master's degree with relevant experience isrequired

+ Experience with mathematics education is required

+ Musthave reliable transportation to be able to travel to the different localschools.

+ Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, andPower Point) and database software (e.g., FileMaker or Access) isrequired

+ Experience withassessments of young children's mathematical development preferred

+ Early childhoodclassroom experience observing interactions with math materialspreferred
